Leeds United are planning to make Adam Forshaw available for a January loan, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The central midfielder has suffered 16 months of injury hell to throw his Elland Road future into major doubt.
A Leeds source told Football Insider that the club are looking to loan out Forshaw in the January window once he returns to full fitness.
He has not featured at all for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season and has made just one appearance for the club since August 2019.
Leeds believe a spell on loan can help Forshaw recover his match fitness as well as some confidence in his body.
Bielsa has always been a big admirer of the midfielder’s calmness and ability to dictate the tempo of a match.
But the intense physical demands at Leeds means a first-team spot is not currently within the player’s grasp.
The United coaching staff have hope that Forshaw can play regularly on loan and then return to Leeds to fight for a first-team spot.
He has suffered a series of injuries since his £4million transfer from Middlesbrough in January 2018 and made just 52 appearances for the club.
Nevertheless, Forshaw was a first choice in midfield when he was available, often alongside Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich.
