Frank Lampard is ‘going to stay loyal to’ Coventry City and reject Chelsea offer
Coventry City will have enough resources at their disposal to convince manager Frank Lampard to stay at the club in the Premier League.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, as Lampard’s stock has risen at Coventry in the Championship this season.
The 47-year-old has been linked with managerial roles at Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Fulham, having guided Coventry to the Championship title during his first full season in charge, with a potential offer from his former club regarded as a big complication for the newly-promoted outfit.
It will be Coventry’s first season back in the top flight since 2001, and Lampard will want assurances that he can strengthen the squad this summer.
Lampard has previous Premier League experience, including keeping Everton up in the 2022-23 season when the Toffees were fighting at the bottom end of the division.
Frank Lampard to remain ‘loyal’ to Coventry
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks Coventry should look at what Sunderland have achieved this season when preparing for life in the Premier League.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness is confident that Lampard will stay at the Sky Blues despite interest elsewhere.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think Frank is going to stay loyal to Coventry.
“Coventry will be limited, but there’ll be enough resources to put together a squad and the style to which they want to try and identify themselves as. I’m sure they’re going to be looking at Sunderland as a role model for this year.
“Frank will know as much as anybody how Granit Xhaka made such a big influence to Sunderland, how experience mixed with some fast attacking, counter-attacking football could really be the key to getting points in the Premier League.
“So no, I think Frank will stay.”
Coventry line up Frank Lampard replacement
Sources have told Football Insider that should Lampard decide to depart, Derby County boss John Eustace is a candidate to become Coventry’s next manager.
Coventry have no desire to lose Lampard, but they are making plans behind-the-scenes in case he does leave the club for a Premier League rival.
Eustace nearly guided Derby into the Championship play-offs this season, in his short managerial career so far, which has included spells at Birmingham City and Blackburn.
