Alan Hutton believes Rangers could be the perfect club for Bordeaux striker Josh Maja to boost his career prospects.

The former Gers and Scotland full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists the ex-Sunderland hitman looks an exciting prospect who could flourish at Ibrox.

Hutton insists that Maja has begun to prove his worth as a striker and that Rangers could be the springboard he needs to hit new heights in the future.

Hutton told Football Insider: "Obviously he's got experience in different leagues, he's gone over there and done well, scored a few goals.

"He's very young, it's difficult to know exactly how it's going to pan out but from what I'm hearing he's doing well at the moment and to come to Scotland, to play for one of the top teams, he's going to get a lot of chances.

"You look at the likes of the balls that Barisic and Tavernier put in, it's a striker's dream. European stage as well, it's a great platform, I think, for players.

"Sometimes they look at the SPL and think it's not as high a standard as they want but actually playing in front of 50,000 week in, week out, European nights - it's a great platform for people to then go and kick on.

"I think it would be a good move, he does look an exciting player."
