Sources: Fulham and Crystal Palace make moves to sign QPR star Sam Field

Fulham and Crystal Palace have made moves to sign Queens Park Rangers midfielder Sam Field, sources have told Football Insider.

Field, 24, is on the radar of both Premier League clubs, and contact has been made, as they look to bolster their midfield options before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Both sides also have other targets lined up and consider Field an insurance option if they fail to get them over the line.

Field, whose contract expires in 18 months, has started all 29 of QPR’s league matches this season, registering one goal and two assists.

Although typically deployed in a defensive midfield role, he is also capable of operating in a more advanced central position.

He began his career with West Brom before moving to QPR in May 2021 after a successful six-month loan spell the previous season.

Field has represented England at Under-12, Under-19 and Under-20 levels.

Neither Fulham nor Palace, who are 7th and 12th in the Premier League respectively, have completed a signing in the January window so far.

As revealed by this site on Tuesday (31 January), Fulham did agree personal terms with 26-year-old Torino midfielder Sasa Lukic only for the move to stall due to issues between the two clubs.

Field’s suitors QPR meanwhile have added winger Jamal Lowe, 28, on loan from Bournemouth, while former Liverpool youngster Elijah Dixon-Bonner has signed on a free transfer.

Neil Critchley’s side currently sit in 14th in the Championship.
