Alvaro Arbeola called out over 'strange' Fulham decisions by ex-scout
Alvaro Arbeloa is on the verge of losing his job at Fulham, with his tactics being labelled as "strange."
That is according to experienced former Tottenham, Everton and Aston Villa scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
Marco Silva's departure left the Cottagers in search of a manager who could carry on the excellent work the Portuguese man had been completing at Craven Cottage.
However, his successor, Arbeloa, has so far failed to follow in his footsteps.
The London side are at rock bottom of the Premier League, still waiting to pick up their first win of the season.
A situation that has left Arbeloa in a spot of bother, with his tactics likely needing to change.
Alvaro Arbeloa's Fulham tactics come under scrutiny after poor start
Things will need to change quickly for Arbeloa, who has so far looked out of his depth at Fulham.
When a team loses a successful figure, such as Silva in the dugout, comparisons are likely to be made.
Unfortunately for the Spaniard, he has been unable to match the expectations that had been raised by the former Fulham manager.
"Fulham have been overachieving with Marco Silva for the last two or three seasons, haven't they?" King told Football Insider.
"They've been a thorn in every Premier League team's side by getting results and being difficult to beat.
"I thought he'd done very well, Silva. Difficult team to play against.
"Now, at the moment, Arbeloa's tactics have been a little bit strange, to say the least. And there seems to be a lack of real positivity between him and the players."
Fulham cannot remain patient with Arbeloa
Arbeloa was always a risky appointment by Fulham as the Spaniard is unproven at the high level.
The former Real Madrid defender has only managed the La Liga side on an interim basis, with his previous role before that being as head coach of their B team.
Fulham are now heading towards relegation as things stand, and placing trust in an inexperienced manager and hoping he can turn things around would not be smart.
There is no proof or evidence that this is something he can do, so the London side simply needs to cut their losses.
The Craven Cottage chiefs got this appointment badly wrong, and with plenty of the season left, there is time to correct course before it truly becomes a disaster.
