Fulham next manager: Frank Lampard odds tumble
Fulham could soon make an ambitious swoop for Frank Lampard as they prepare for Marco Silva’s departure.
The Cottagers are set to lose their manager this month when his contract expires, as he edges closer to being officially confirmed as Benfica’s new manager.
Multiple names have been linked to the Fulham post, including Frank Lampard, who has just won promotion to the Premier League with Coventry City.
One UK bookmaker has now slashed the odds of Lampard making a switch to the Cottagers down to 4/1, making him the second favourite.
The former Chelsea star has been linked to multiple jobs in the English top-flight over the past six months, including the vacancies at Crystal Palace and Chelsea.
Frank Lampard has restored managerial reputation at Coventry City
Upon his arrival at Coventry City, Lampard’s managerial reputation was on the floor.
The 47-year-old won only one game in nine matches at Chelsea as caretaker boss, with no Premier League clubs prepared to take a gamble on him after he left.
However, his work at Coventry has not gone unnoticed after winning the Championship title this season.
Fulham will be hoping for a manager to take them to the next level after narrowly missing out on European football yet again this season.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Lampard will be willing to depart Coventry for the Cottagers this summer.
Who else is linked with the Fulham job?
As it stands, Kieran McKenna is the favourite to take over at Fulham at 11/10 odds.
The Ipswich Town manager also won promotion to the Premier League this season, as the club finished second in the Championship on the final day.
Arne Slot is also not ruled out of the race at 10/1, just a week after he was dismissed as Liverpool manager.
Other potential outsiders include Oliver Glasner at 8/1 and Robbie Keane at 12/1.
The former is set to leave Crystal Palace this summer once his contract expires after guiding the club to three major trophies in just over a year.
Keane had been heavily linked to the Celtic job, but with Martin O’Neill now set to get the job for next season, the former Tottenham star has also seen his odds reduced on a move to Fulham.
