Fulham have 'two strong options' to be their next manager, one is 'lobbying hard' for the job
Former Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is pushing his name forward to become the next Fulham manager.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the Dane is the "obvious fit" to take charge at Craven Cottage.
The Cottagers' current boss Alvaro Arbeloa remains under huge pressure, despite his team picking up their first win of the new Premier League campaign last weekend.
Wyness believes that Frank has been "lobbying hard" to take the reins in West London, as he looks to return to management in the coming months.
The 53-year-old has been out of work since he was sacked by Spurs back in February, but previously impressed during a sustained tenure at Brentford.
Frank has already been linked with the Fulham job this season, with Arbeloa seemingly running out of time to turn the team's fortunes around.
Thomas Frank's main rival for Fulham job revealed
Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Frank's main rival for the Fulham job if Arbeloa is sacked is likely to be Vitor Pereira.
The Portuguese was axed by Nottingham Forest in the summer, but Wyness feels that he could be a "decent appointment" at Fulham.
However, speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, he explained why Frank would be the clear number one choice.
"Frank is the most obvious one in terms of a sort of cultural fit. But I think Pereira would also be a decent appointment," he said.
"Both of them would be good for Fulham and could steady the ship and move things forward. There is a talented squad at Fulham, and I think they've got a chance of being able to stay up.
"It won't be a great season for them, but I think right now they'd settle for mid-table if they could. And those two are the right ones to have a look at it.
"Either one of those would be good, and it would be a toss-up. Frank has already been lobbying quite hard. Pereira is a talent, so look, as I say, they're better off with either of them than they are with Arbeloa right now."
Fulham 'dressing room' not happy with Alvaro Arbeloa
Wyness previously told Football Insider earlier this week that Arbeloa has likely only "bought himself" another week after last weekend's victory.
His side are still rooted in the relegation zone, and have shown little signs of turning their fortunes around so far.
Wyness believes that the "dressing room isn't happy" with Arbeloa, who he feels has approached Premier League management in the wrong way.
Wyness still expects Arbeloa to be sacked sooner rather than later, with the promising start for the three newly-promoted clubs expected to scare Fulham a little.
