Fulham sources: Update on Alvaro Arbeloa's future
Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa retains the backing of the club hierarchy at the moment, sources have told Football Insider.
The Cottagers boss is under huge pressure at the moment, with his team still waiting for their first win of the season in the Premier League.
However, the board have no plans to pull the trigger on the former Real Madrid boss just yet, and still hope that he will be able to turn the team’s fortunes around.
Sources say that Fulham are likely to assess Arbeloa’s future properly during the November international break, unless results dip further between now and then.
His team were in line to get their first league win under their belts last weekend, but squandered a lead away at Ipswich in the dying embers of the game.
If Fulham continue in the same vein of form until the middle of November, then the board are likely to be forced to cut ties with Arbeloa and head in a different direction.
Alvaro Arbeloa has two games to save his job
Fulham’s gamble to appoint Arbeloa hasn’t paid off so far, but they now face an enticing run of games in the coming weeks.
The capital club are set to welcome Hull City to Craven Cottage on 17 October, before making the trip to face the Tigers’ fellow newly-promoted side Coventry City before the end of the month.
Football Insider recently revealed that the Fulham board are hopeful those matches can provide the springboard for the team to turn their form on its head.
However, it is also understood that if Arbeloa’s side fall to defeat in both of those games, then the club may rush to pull the trigger on him before things get worse.
They are hoping to reassess his future at the next international break in November, but their hand could ultimately be forced if they don’t pick up three points in the coming weeks.
Fulham could accept £50m Josh King offer
Football Insider revealed last weekend that Fulham could accept offers upwards of the £50million mark for star midfielder Josh King within the next 12 months.
The 19-year-old prodigy is being tracked by a whole host of elite European clubs at the moment, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona.
Sources say that Fulham are under no pressure to sell King, but could be tempted if the chance to net a truly lucrative fee arises.
The academy graduate enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in the Premier League last term, and already has two goals to his name already in 2026-27.
