Sources: Fulham striker in talks to join Preston North End

Fulham striker Jonah Kusi-Asare is in talks with Preston North End over a move to join the club on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old joined Fulham this summer from Bayern Munich for a fee in the region of £6million, having joined the German giants from AIK in 2024.

The youngster initially joined on loan last summer and made 10 appearances across all competitions for the first team.

It was in the Premier League 2 that Kusi-Asare really impressed, netting four goals in the five games he played.

Fulham will hope that he can now gain experience of more regular senior football in the Championship, with Preston emerging as a strong candidate.

The Championship side have their last four games across all competitions and are in desperate need of a new striker.

How will Johan Kusi-Asare fare in the Championship?

Kusi-Asare's experience of senior football is limited, but he has the right tools to thrive at the level.

The Sweden youth international is a huge six foot five, and is capable of using his long frame to hold off defenders.

While the 19-year-old's success at the youth level does not guarantee that the transitional will be comfortable, he certainly knows where the goal is.

Kusi-Asare has even earned comparisons to Swedish star Alexander Isak, who shares his height and build.

It is hoped that the teenager can, one day, take over from the Liverpool striker, but he has a long way to go until then.

A move to the Championship may well be the first step, with the intensity and physicality of the league often providing an inkling of a youngster's potential in senior football.

Should Kusi-Asare thrive at the level, he will almost certainly play a part for Fulham next season.

Kusi-Asare featured for Bayern's first team last season, scoring against Tottenham as the German champions won 4-0 in pre-season.

Former Tottenham man Harry Kane also featured in the game, scoring against his old club and missing a penalty.

But the youngsters stole the show, with Lennart Karl, Wisdom Mike and Cassiano Kiala also impressing.

"They were great finishes from Lenny [Karl] and Kusi [Asare], and it was great from all the boys that played. They've been training really well, and it was a great experience for them to play here in front of so many fans," Kane said after the game.

Perhaps it was the England international's words that would convince Fulham to sign the youngster just weeks later.
