Thomas Frank to Fulham odds slashed by bookmakers in new manager twist
Thomas Frank’s chances of becoming the next permanent manager of Fulham have been slashed according to one of the UK’s top bookmakers.
Fulham confirmed that Marco Silva would leave Craven Cottage after five years at the club, which has seen them become an established Premier League side in that time.
Silva, who is expected to join Benfica next, has expressed his frustrations at a lack of backing in the transfer market from the club's ownership.
The Cottagers finished this season 11th in the Premier League table, finishing only a point below the final European spot
Silva’s side also failed to mount a challenge in either cup competition, and were one of the lowest scorers in the Premier League, highlighting the task the next manager faces
Thomas Frank second favourite to replace Marco Silva
Former Tottenham boss Frank is now 3/1 to join Fulham after previously being 5/1 on the day Silva confirmed he was leaving the club, according to a leading UK bookmaker.
Ipswich boss McKenna though remains the favourite after securing the club's promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
The 40-year-old has been linked with numerous Premier League vacancies during his successful time at Portman Road.
McKenna is 6/4 to join Fulham, with Coventry manager Frank Lampard at 5/1 to leave his job with the Sky Blues and return to west London.
Completing the top four leading candidates is former Fulham player Liam Rosenior at 10/1, who was sacked by Chelsea in April.
Expert hears rumours after Liam Rosenior to Fulham
Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, had heard of Rosenior potentially being appointed the next Fulham manager.
Wyness said a couple of sources had confirmed to him that Rosenior could return to Premier League management at Fulham just months after his unsuccessful stint at Stamford Bridge.
The 41-year-old faced numerous problems on and off the pitch at Chelsea, and there would be a lot less scrutiny taking over at Fulham.
There would still be an expectation though at Fulham that their next manager ensures they compete for European football again next season, and is able to strengthen the squad.
