Future is bleak for Dele Alli at Tottenham after Conte reveal via Sky - pundit
Paul Robinson fears for Dele Alli a week into Antonio Conte’s rein at Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said the 3-4-3 formation adopted by the Italian manager “doesn’t look promising” for Alli.
The 25-year-old has been an unused substitute in both games since Conte’s appointment.
However, speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday, Conte insisted Alli would be given the chance to start games if he earns it.
The 37-times England international has struggled to nail down a starting spot in north London since the departure of Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Alli’s chance under Conte, Robinson said: “It looks like Conte is going to play with a front three.

“Two of those players are nailed on in [Harry] Kane and Son [Heung-min]. The other place is between Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn, Bryan Gil and Dele Alli.
“Alli is going to struggle for game time in that system. His opportunities will be limited.
“I can’t see him dropping into a deeper role and playing alongside [Pierre Emile] Hojbjerg. It doesn’t suit him. And, I certainly can’t see him playing at wing-back.
“He is fighting for a position with a lot of other players. Even [Giovani] Lo Celso can play in that advanced role. We saw that at Everton. It doesn’t look promising for Dele Alli in this current system.”
