Garner could have 'big decision on his hands' after update on Everton pursuit - pundit

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Manchester United midfielder James Garner amid interest from Everton in his signature.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and England number one said the 20-year-old was “brilliant” in the FA Cup for loan club Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Garner starred for Steve Cooper’s side in a 1-0 win over Arsenal at the City Ground.

An Everton source told Football Insider prior to the match last Friday (7 January) that the club are weighing up a move for the centre-midfielder.

A product of United’s academy, Garner has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.

Rafael Benitez has already bolstered his squad with the signings of full-backs Nathan Patterson and Vitaly Mykolenko this month.

Robinson has claimed Garner would have “a big decision on his hands” were the Toffees to table a concrete offer.

“I was very impressed with the way he played against Arsenal at the weekend,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“I thought he was brilliant. Forest were excellent all over the pitch actually.

“If Everton make a concrete offer the player will have a big decision on his hands. Would he see himself developing quicker at Everton than at Manchester United?

“It shows you the window Benitez is shopping in because of FFP. They are no longer going for established names. They are shopping elsewhere in the market.”
