Gary Lineker reacts on Twitter to Tottenham ace Janssen scoring v Bournemouth

By Harvey Byrne

Former Tottenham forward Gary Lineker stated that it “was getting silly” after Vincent Janssen scored in Spurs’ comfortable win against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

The 22-year-old summer signing entered the White Hart Lane pitch against the Cherries with just three minutes of the match remaining.

The Holland international went on to show that he has what it takes to become a success in north London as he found himself on the score sheet with a sweet strike in stoppage time in the 4-0 win.

The goal marked Janssen’s first Premier League strike for the club since October and he has often come in for criticism from onlookers this season with Match of the Day host Lineker seemingly joining in with the the message from his personal Twitter account on Saturday afternoon.

Janssen was brought to Tottenham in the summer from AZ Alkmaar for a fee of £17million with the view that he would help backup star forward Harry Kane.

However, with a return of just six goals and 4 assists in 35 outings in all competitions this season he has so far failed to match up with the England international.

Fans will however now be hoping that his goal on Saturday can install some more confidence in the Dutchman as they look to catch Chelsea at the top with six matches left.
