Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has taken to Twitter to apologise after his latest social media blunder saw him confuse club legends Jack Charlton and John Charles.
In a now deleted tweet on his personal account, the Italian businessman wished Charlton a happy birthday while dubbing him as the ‘Gentle Giant’ – a nickname associated to another Leeds legend, ex-Wales international Charles.
Leeds fans were left raging over Radrizzani’s latest Twitter mistake, with some urging him to remove himself from social media after he previously went on a rant about Wolves’ relationship with super-agent Jorge Mendes in the wake of the Whites’ defeat to the Midlands club.
Radrizzani soon realised his mistake though, and apologised to a fan who had labelled him as an “idiotic owner”.
“It was a genuine mistake. Sorry. I read it quickly while having dinner and I got confused with John Charles whom I know very well as my first moment ever at ER I fell in love looking at his two jerseys of Leeds and Juve on the west stand entry. You can all relax a bit now,” he said on his Twitter account.

Football Insider verdict
Leeds fans need to lay off Radrizzani a bit. It’s alright to question his decisions to when it comes to running the football club, but this was clearly just a mistake. Not many of Leeds’ other owners in the past would have even known about ‘Gentle Giant’ John Charles. It seems that some supporters just want to have a go at the Italian businessman for the most petty of things. That should be the end of it now. It’s left Radrizzani red-faced and a few keyboard warriors fuming, but the Whites owner has said sorry and that’s that. Leeds fans now have the summer transfer window to look forward to and if it doesn’t go how they would like it to then it would be fair to have some complaints for Radrizzani. Victor Orta is bound to ruffle a few feathers if he does what he did last year again.
