Incoming Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has shown that he can’t wait to begin his first day as Gers manager after replying to a birthday message from the club’s Instagram account.
Gerrard, who starts life at Ibrox on the 1st of June, was wished a happy birthday by the official Gers Instagram account, to which he replied ‘two days’.
Gerrard seems highly excited and motivated to take over at his first managerial job, where he will be assisted by his former Liverpool team-mate Gary McAllister.
He was announced as manager on the 4th of May, and he must be counting down the days until he can officially take over.
Football Insider verdict
Gerrard must be champing at the bit to get started at his first managerial job. It still seems slightly surreal that he has taken over at Ibrox, but it is a gamble that he obviously feels is worth taking. The Gers fans no doubt back the appointment, as the demand for tickets is greater than it has been for many years. Naturally there will be ups and downs in the job for Gerrard to face, but he has experienced them as a player so it won’t be a new thing to him. The Gary McAllister appointment could be vital as well, as both men have a rapport from their days at Liverpool and their relationship will be key to the duo being a success. Gerrard now must just want to get on with the job. After all the hype, he will want to get onto the training ground with his players and start the process of managing a senior team for the first time in his career.
