Danny Mills has blasted Rangers winger Jordan Jones for the tackle which saw him sent off in his club’s 2-0 Old Firm defeat to Celtic on Sunday.
The former England defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, was left fuming with the 24-year-old after he was given his marching orders for a foul on Hoops star Moritz Bauer in the dying minutes of the first Glasgow derby of the season.
Jones had come on as a substitute in the 70th minute with the Gers 1-0 down after Odsonne Edouard’s opening goal, with Jonny Hayes wrapping up the victory after the Rangers man’s dismissal.
Mills blasted the Northern Irish winger for his lack of discipline, insisting he only made the rash challenge to win the favour of the Ibrox faithful.
Mills told Football Insider: “A ridiculous sending off at the end. What is the point? That’s just playing up to the fans.
“Steven Gerrard must be absolutely fuming with that.”
Jones had been dropped to the bench for the Hoops’ visit to Ibrox, having started against both Hibernian and St Mirren in the league.
He has played a total of nine games for the Gers since joining on a free transfer over the summer, battling it out with the likes of Sheyi Ojo and Brandon Barker for a place on the wings.
