Report: Gerrard holds talks with Mark Allen about Rangers changes ahead of busy summer
Steven Gerrard and his number two Gary McAllister made a "secret" dash to Rangers on Tuesday, according to a report.
The Daily Record claims that Gerrard and an entourage visited the Auchenhowie training base while the first-team players were away for their game at Aberdeen on Tuesday night.
The report claims Gerrard asked for the visit and held talks with Mark Allen about changes he wants implementing before his official start date on June 1.
Football Insider verdict:
Despite not officially starting until June 1 because of prior commitments to Liverpool in Dubai this weekend, Gerrard is already making the headlines in Glasgow. Fans might be split about whether he's got the experience to drag Rangers back up to the top in Scotland, no one can deny the impact that he's had and will continue to have while he's manager. Rangers are back in the news for good reasons and the spotlight shone on Scottish football can only be beneficial to everyone – even Celtic fans, although they won't be wishing Gerrard as much luck as the neutrals. It's likely that a lot of Liverpool fans will start taking a very keen interest in the team, and the summer transfer window is going to be fascinating. Will he be able to bring some talented youngsters up with him from Liverpool? Who else will he sign and what will his starting XI look like come the start of the season. We can't wait.
