Gerrard tipped to 'raid' Rangers and lure two players to Aston Villa amid 'huge' source reveal - Mills
Danny Mills has tipped Steven Gerrard to “raid” Rangers and sign two players for Aston Villa.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England defender claimed Gerrard knowing the players will be a “massive” factor in his Villa recruitment.
Aston Villa confirmed last week (November 11) the 41-year-old had taken over from Dean Smith on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
They subsequently confirmed (November 13) he had been joined by Gary McAllister, Michael Beale, Tom Culshaw, Scott Mason and Jordan Milsom – all members of his Rangers coaching staff.
A Villa source told Football Insider (November 12) the club’s owners will provide “huge” funds to Gerrard in January and next summer.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if he takes a couple from Rangers because he knows them,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s seen these players work, he knows what they can do. He’ll know what their attitudes are like, he’ll know what their personalities are like.
“He will know automatically if they will be able to fit in. He knows the Premier League, he’s not that long retired since playing in it. He’s been around it for a long, long time.
“Knowing the characters of players, knowing how hard they are going to work is a massive bonus.
“We often see managers raiding their old clubs or players they know because, for them, it’s less of a gamble.”
Dean Smith spent almost £100million in the summer transfer window as Leon Bailey, Danny Ings and Emi Buendia moved for big fees.
Their spending was offset by the record sale of Jack Grealish to Man City.
