Gianluca Scamacca could 'cause a lot of problems' at Arsenal after what expert has just seen

Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Arsenal target Gianluca Scamacca after watching the Italy international against England on Saturday.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Highbury favourite said the 23-year-old “looks as if he would cause a lot of problems” for defenders if he moved to the Premier League.

The Athletic‘s David Ornstein reported (24 May) that the Gunners are interested in signing Scamacca this summer.

Mikel Arteta’s side currently have no senior strikers on their books.

Alexandre Lacazette has left and Eddie Nketiah is yet to pen a new deal.

Scamacca started for Italy in a 0-0 draw against England in the Uefa Nations League on Saturday evening.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the striker’s performance, Campbell said: “I thought he was neat and tidy.

“He is 6 foot 4 and you could see he has presence.

“He had a couple of half chances but the game wasn’t great. One thing I will say is that his link play is brilliant. It is very good and he puts himself about..

“If you watch video clips of him he looks decent. He knows where the goal is. It looks as if he will cause a lot of problems.

“His value is not going to be defined by the England game. I saw signs of why Arsenal are interested in him.”

Scamacca scored 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances last season.

His contract with Sassuolo runs until the end of June 2026.
