Gianluca Scamacca expected to be axed from West Ham XI as striker 'cheesed off' - pundit
Kevin Campbell expects West Ham manager David Moyes to drop Gianluca Scamacca for the visit of Crystal Palace.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker suggested Michail Antonio will be named in the starting XI for Sunday’s game at the London Stadium.
Scamacca has started West Ham’s last six Premier League fixtures.
Antonio has been a second-half substitute in all of those games.
In the 1-0 loss to Man United on Sunday (30 October), the Jamaica international had a big impact from the bench.
As quoted by the Evening Standard (31 October), Antonio suggested a striker partnership between himself and Scamacca is an option for David Moyes.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the Irons’ striker situation, Campbell said: “Michail Antonio has probably been a bit cheesed off not to be starting more.
“Sometimes there is nothing better than having a player who is cheesed off. They want to prove that they are the man.
“When Antonio came on against Man United he was a real handful. He was giving them serious headaches. If it was not for some great goalkeeping more [David] De Gea…
“This is the problem David Moyes will have wanted all season. He has got Scamacca and a motivated Michail Antonio.
“I think Antonio will be back in the starting lineup at the weekend.”
