Confirmed: Wolves striker demoted to reserves

By Danny Wright

Wolves have confirmed that Bright Enobakhare will play for their under-23 squad against Aston Villa on Monday.

The 19-year-old has failed to score in 12 first team appearances for the Black Country club this season and has now been axed to the development squad.

This means that it is highly doubtful that Enobakhare will be travelling to Ipswich on Tuesday night for the club’s next Championship fixture.

The Wolves official Twitter page confirmed that the goal-shy striker will be taking part in his first Premier League 2 match since October, when he scored twice in a 4-3 over Fulham under-23s.

However Enobakhare won’t have to adjust to any unfamiliar surroundings as his side will be playing at Molineux as oppose to Telford’s New Bucks Head, where they play their usual home games.

The Nigerian striker has made a total of 21 appearances for the Wolves first team but has only scored one on occasion.

His single goal for the club came on his first team debut when he scored three minutes into the game against Barnet in a 2-1 win in the league cup in 2015.

Enobakhare made his league debut a month later when he came off the bench in the closing stages of a 3-0 win over Fulham.

Since mid-December, the academy wonderkid has consistently made it into the Wolves matchday squad and featured in important wins over Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Barnsley – when he completed his first ever full 90 minutes for the first team.
