Golden Boot winner 'surprised' as Liverpool star Salah revealed worst-in Premier-League
Kevin Phillips is “surprised” by the amount of ‘big chances’ Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has missed in the Premier League this season.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the 2000 European Golden Shoe winner claimed there is no cause for concern following the 29-year-old’s sensational display against Manchester City on Sunday.
Salah has missed four big chances in the league this season – more than any other player in the division. (Premier League)
He is also the division’s top scorer after he netted in a 2-2 draw with Man City at Anfield yesterday.
Phillips said it would be more of a concern if Salah was net getting lots of chances to score.
“To hear he’s missed the most ‘big chances’ surprises me,” he told Football Insider.

“He has still scored a hatful of goals though. The main thing for me is that he is getting that many opportunities.
“His record is unbelievable so I would never criticise him. Just look at what he’s done for that club. Salah is a world class player.
“I’m surprised that he’s missed that many big chances because of the amount of goals he has scored. It’s an area that he perhaps need to keep working on but as I say, I would not want to criticise.
“He scored a great goal against City so that should put an end to any doubts over his finishing. It should not be a worry for Liverpool because Salah will score a lot of goals this season and could easily win the Golden Boot. A slight surprise but no concern.”
