Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Connor Goldson to quit Rangers in the summer when his contract expires.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested Goldson could double his money if he moved to a Premier League as a free agent.

The colossal defender revealed last month he had no contact from his agent or the club about a new deal.

He has remained a key part of the side and started their 3-1 defeat to Hibs in the League Cup semi-final over the weekend.

As quoted by footballscotland after the game, Goldson claimed the squad have "lost a bit of hunger" after winning the Scottish Premiership last season.

It was the club's only major trophy in Steven Gerrard's three-and-a-half year's Ibrox reign.

Asked whether that could mean he wants to quit, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: "No, it's not that.

"He's going to want the money that Scotland can't pay.

"If he's earning £20,000-£30,0000-a-week in Scotland he can earn £60,000-a-week in England. That's going to be on his mind.

"Maybe it's a money thing for him. He's getting to that age where you want to make as much money as you can from the game.

"At 28, turning 29, it's your last big contract and you want it to be your biggest."

Rangers

Goldson moved to Ibrox in 2018 from Brighton & Hove Albion and has made 184 appearances across all competitions.

He did not miss a minute of action across all competitions last season, including the unbeaten league campaign.
