Goldson tipped to sign new Rangers contract after Ibrox source reveal - pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Connor Goldson to sign a new Rangers contract soon.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Goldson is “so important” to Rangers who will not want to lose him.
Ibrox sources have told Football Insider the club fended off late-window transfer interest in the centre-back and are still hopeful of him signing a new contract.
Goldson has just 12 months left to run on his current agreement and could leave for free next summer.
He revealed, via Sky Sports on 6 August, that negotiations over a new deal were ongoing.
Asked whether the 28-year-old will commit his future now the transfer window is closed, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, I think he will sign a new contract.

“He’s so important to that team but sometimes contract negotiations can take a while
“I’ve been in situations myself where it can take a while. Your agent and the club are going back and forth and not agreeing. You just think ‘I’ll leave it to you guys, I’ll just concentrate on my football’.
“I’m sure that will be sorted out in time. I’m sure Rangers will not want to lose their best players they will want to keep building now they’re on top.”
Goldson has played 171 times across all competitions for Rangers and has contributed 17 goals and five assists.
He was an ever-present when they won a historic 55th Scottish Premiership title last season and is yet to miss a minute of action this term.
