Goldson tipped to sign new Rangers contract after late-window Ibrox reveal - pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted Rangers should have no trouble tying Connor Goldson down to a new contract despite late interest in the transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aberdeen striker suggested the Light Blues have “more than enough” to convince the 28-year-old to stay.
As revealed by Football Insider (1st September), Rangers refused to entertain any offers for the centre-back despite his contract situation.
The former Brighton man’s current terms are set to expire next summer.
As such, the Gers risk losing him on a free if he does not sign a new deal.
However, Whelan tipped the defender to commit himself to Ibrox and end speculation over his future.

Asked if getting Goldson tied down should be a priority for Rangers, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Yeah, absolutely.
“I’m very sure that Steven Gerrard won’t want to lose a player of his ability.
“I’m sure that Goldson will want to stay if they’re successful in many areas.
“The longer they go and the further they go in Europe, the more money they’re going to get. That’s the contract right away, there’s the money for the contract.
“Look, I’m very sure that they know the situation there. They know it’s running down.
“But I feel that they’ve got more than enough there to entice him to stay again. It looks like he’s enjoying his football.”
Goldson has been a mainstay for Gerrard since joining from Brighton in 2018.
He has made 171 appearances across all competitions and played every minute of the Gers’ 56 games last season.
