Graeme Murty: Rangers star was angry and frustrated after win v St Johnstone

Rangers manager Graeme Murty has admitted he has a few “bruised and battered” players after the Gers’ hectic schedule since the winter break – and revealed the Gers will assess Jamie Murphy’s injury ahead of crunch games with Falkirk and Celtic.
Murphy limped out of the 4-1 win with St. Johnstone on Tuesday night to join a lengthy injury list at Ibrox and could now miss game-time for the Ibrox giants.
The Rangers star had scored three times in his last three games before drawing a blank against Tommy Wright’s side but it is the foot injury that forced him off near the end of the McDiarmid Park clash that will have Murty worried.
The Gers boss confirmed Murphy will be looked at and rested ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup quarter-final with Falkirk – likely with one eye on the following week’s Old Firm clash.
“There are a few knocks, a few sore ones. There are a few people with bruised and battered bodies because we have gone through quite a testing schedule,” Murty said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“Jamie was the most obvious one. But we will just assess those, particularly Jamie, and try to get them rested down as soon as possible because we have got big games coming up.
“Jamie was in a bit of pain and he was a bit frustrated and a bit angry with some of the tackles that he had, but when you are an influential player and you hold onto the ball as he does people are going to want to be robust and stop you playing.”
Murty’s Gers have now played nine times since returning to competitive action at the end of January as they go into the business end of the season.
The win over Tommy Wright’s side has taken the Gers to within six points of Old Firm rivals Celtic ahead of the March 11th clash between the two and will be hoping his side can continue to catch the Hoops in coming weeks.
