Southampton could turn to Graham Potter if they decide to pull the trigger on Russell Martin, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 49-year-old former Chelsea manager is being eyed by the Southampton hierarchy as a potential replacement for Martin, 38.

Potter, who spent a year at Southampton as a player, has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in April 2023.

The ex-Brighton boss isn't the only manager being lined up at Southampton after their dismal start to life back in the Premier League.

Potter only managed 31 games at Chelsea before Todd Boehly pulled the plug, winning 12, drawing eight, and losing 11.

Southampton aren't the only Premier League strugglers that would be interested in bringing Potter in to should they decide to sack their current boss.

Martin's side currently sit in 18th after drawing one and losing four of their opening five Premier League games.
