Grealish replacement claim made as Aston Villa eye 'marquee signing'

Kevin Campbell insists Todd Cantwell needs to step up and leave Norwich for Aston Villa.

The Arsenal icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on Cantwell’s future.

As revealed by Football Insider on Thursday (August 5th), Villa are pushing hard to make Cantwell their next marquee signing to compensate for Jack Grealish’s departure.

Grealish completed his £100million move to Manchester City on Thursday.

This site revealed last month that Villa are working on signing the Norwich midfielder and the latest from a club source is that talks are ongoing.

Campbell rates Cantwell but doesn’t see him as the natural Grealish replacement as Leon Bailey is a better fit.

“Cantwell is a really good young player,” Campbell told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“I don’t think he’s a direct Grealish replacement, they don’t quite play in the same position.

“I think Leon Bailey will take that left side role in the attack.

“He’s done his time at Norwich, now it’s time for him to step up.

“He’s got his mate there at Villa, hasn’t he? Emi Buendia is there obviously.

“To me, it seems like Villa are trying to replace Grealish with three or four players rather than one.

Bailey signed for Villa last week and became thier third signing of the summer after Emi Buendia and Ashley Young.

Danny Ings has also now arrived at Villa Park as Dean Smith’s side reinvest their Grealish millions.
