Paul Robinson blown away by last-gasp Tottenham loan deal

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Tottenham after they sealed a last-gasp loan transfer for Troy Parrott to Ipswich Town.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one is adamant that the centre-forward, who celebrated his 19th Birthday on Thursday, will excel at Portman Road under Paul Lambert.

Tottenham announced on deadline day that the teenage striker would move to the League One side on loan after his time at Millwall was terminated by mutual consent.

Parrott struggled at The Den for the first half of the 2020/21 campaign, having initially signed for the Championship side on a season-long loan deal in August.

He failed to score in his 14 appearances for Gary Rowett’s side.

Robinson is confident that Parrott will fair far better at Ipswich Town.

“It is a great move from Spurs,” he told Football Insider. “It is decisive.

“Parrott is a fantastic young player who was on the fringes of the Spurs team last season.

“He has left the club to play games and if he is not doing that, for whatever reason it may be, then he needs to go elsewhere.

“The club have exercised their right to call him back and move him to a club where he will play. He needs regular starts.

“It was a decisive move from Spurs and one that I think will pay off. It will be good for Parrott at Ipswich. I think he will get plenty of game time and score goals.”
