'This is great news' - Leeds fans celebrate PL club's reported eight-figure striker bid
By Harvey Byrne
Leeds fans on Twitter have celebrated after it was reported that Premier League side Burnley had launched an £11.8million bid for Deportivo La Coruna striker Florin Andone.
Sky Sports reported via their official Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon that the Lancashire-based club had made an eight-figure offer for the 24-year-old Romanian.

The report follows a claim from Express Sports weekend editor Joe Short via his personal Twitter account that Burnley had tabled a mega £20million bid for Leeds’ Chris Wood.

However, fans of the Yorkshire giants are of course eager for their club to keep hold of last season’s 30-goal striker and after news broke that Burnley had bid for Andone they took to social media to post their hopes that their interest in the New Zealand international was now over.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Burnley have let both Andre Gray and Michael Keane leave this summer for fees reported to be totalling £43million, meaning that Sean Dyche’s side have plenty of money left to play with alongside winnings from the Premier League.
However, their transfer record currently stands at the £13million spent on Robbie Brady in January and they are not known for splashing the cash, which could mean Andone, who scored 12 goals in 37 La Liga matches last season is seen as a more realistic option compared to Wood.
In other Leeds transfer news, the Whites want to sign this proven goalscorer regardless of Wood’s future.
