Leeds United are stepping up their signing blitz by adding striker Sam Greenwood to their ranks today, Football Insider can reveal.

United are putting the finishing touches to the marquee capture of Rodrigo after agreeing a £27million deal announced last night by Valencia.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that the club are also finalising the capture of Greenwood, 18, from Arsenal.

The forward is putting pen to paper on a three-year United contract today as he completes a £1.5million transfer from Emirates Stadium.

Greenwood is regarded as one for the future as opposed to Rodrigo, who has been earmarked to spearhead the attack for Leeds' long-awaited return to the Premier League.

The 22-times Spain international is undergoing a medical this morning in his homeland after agreeing the terms of a £100,000-a-week new contract that immediately rockets him into the category of top earner at the club.

Greenwood has also secured a long-term deal after being persuaded to cut his ties with Arsenal to join a side where Marcelo Bielsa has demonstrated great faith in youth during his two years at the helm.

Greenwood is mainly a centre-forward but has played a number of matches for Arsenal's youth teams at right wing and as a number 10.

In the two years he has been at the Premier League giants, the youngster has scored 15 goals and supplied six assists in 39 appearances for the Under-18s.

He has also played seven times for the Gunners' Under-23s and netted once.

The former Sunderland youth has been capped by England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels.
