Griffiths 'career hanging by a thread' after Celtic update - pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed Leigh Griffiths’ Celtic career is “hanging by a thread” following Ange Postecoglou’s arrival.
The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 30-year-old had just days to prove his worth at Parkhead.
Speaking at his first press conference as Celtic boss (June 25th, 20:40), Postecoglou admitted he is yet to make a decision on whether to keep Griffiths at Parkhead for next season.
The Hoops striker, who is out of contract at the end of the month, told the BBC he was hopeful of agreeing a new deal soon.
Postecoglou revealed the pair had held talks and insisted discussions would continue to make sure Griffiths is the right fit for Celtic.
With less than a week until the Scotland international’s terms expire, Whelan insisted Griffiths is fighting for his future in training.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “His career right now is hanging by a thread.
“You’re going into the season with no contract at any club, really.
“The pressure is on him to impress and to keep that money coming in and keep that lifestyle that he may have.
“I don’t see too many queuing up right now. He’s got to go out there and if he wants to be at Celtic, he’s got to prove a point.
“He’s got to show the right attitude from the word go from when that manager walks through the door and sees him.”
Griffiths managed to make just nine starts in 26 appearances for Celtic during the 2020/21 campaign.
He has played a total of 262 times and scored 123 goals for the Bhoys.
