Three attacking stars are the most likely players to join Liverpool in the January window, according to a report.

The Guardian claims Borussia Dortmund sensation Christian Pulisic, FC Rostov striker Sardar Azmoun and Spartak Moscow winger Quincy Promes could make moves to Anfield next month.

It is said that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will have an estimated budget of £40million to beef up a squad that is challenging for the Premier League title.

The German resisted the opportunity to strengthen his squad in January of this year but a season-ending injury to Danny Ings and Sadio Mane's absence next month at the African Cup of Nations could force a move for an attacking player to make sure the title bid stays on track.

Dortmund have publicly issued a hands-off warning to clubs eyeing right-winger Pulisic, who has accumulated a remarkable 11 caps for the USA despite only being 18.

Iran international Azmoun, 21, is a centre-forward who is more prolific for his country than he has been for his club in recent times, while right-winger Promes, 24, is a consistent creator and scorer in the Russian league.

Liverpool are surfing the crest of a wave following three consecutive league wins, which have consolidated their second position in the Premier League.

The Merseysiders host Manchester City at Anfield on Saturday evening as they aim for a fourth successive triumph and to close the gap on leaders Chelsea.
