Guglielmo Vicario may never play for Tottenham again as Roberto De Zerbi issues injury update
Guglielmo Vicario appears to be coming to a rather disappointing end as a Tottenham Hotspur player ahead of the summer.
The Italian international hasn’t made an appearance since the 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in May, with Antonin Kinsky taking over the reins in between the sticks.
His replacement’s disaster cameo against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League is now a distant memory, starring in recent much-needed wins over Wolves and Aston Villa.
While rumours were swirling around Kinsky’s future in North London, the same can now be said about Vicario, as Tottenham’s transfer chiefs get to work ahead of the summer transfer window.

Neither goalkeeper has provided much confidence during the 2025-26 campaign, but Kinsky certainly seems to have put his mistakes behind him. The same cannot be said for his teammate.
Of course, Vicario has been sidelined for the last few games, so naturally, rumours have begun to build around his future, and Spurs may have seen the 29-year-old for the final time.
Ahead of the Lilywhites’ clash with Leeds United, Roberto De Zerbi addressed the media about any possible returns from injury, but that doesn’t appear likely for his No.1 shot-stopper.

He said, “He is not ready yet. I don’t know what the plan will be. He’s suffering because he would like to help the team and his teammates. But he’s not available yet…”
Tottenham already have a contingency plan in place
Juventus have already registered an interest in the 29-year-old goalkeeper, and they are unlikely to be the only club in Europe keeping tabs on the player’s current situation.
With that in mind, Football Insider understands that Tottenham are planning to sign a new goalkeeper as a replacement for Vicario, so it might be the end of the road for him ahead of the summer.
Spurs signed him from Empoli for £17million in the summer of 2023. Just for that price tag alone, it is about time that the club invested in a much more trustworthy last line of defence.
Premier League survival looks far more likely at Hotspur Way now, so it might not be as difficult as first anticipated to draw new players to the club this summer.
