Guglielmo Vicario staring down the barrel of Tottenham exit after Leeds United clash

Guglielmo Vicario is being strongly linked with a Tottenham Hotspur exit, and those rumours could soon come to fruition.

The shot-stopper has been under the microscope throughout the 2025-26 campaign, but with the Italy international now sidelined, Antonin Kinsky has stepped into the spotlight in North London.

Vicario hasn’t featured since the 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in March, and in every game since, his understudy has played a key role in Spurs bagging an important eight points from four matches.

Tottenham’s transfer chiefs are likely to have a huge job on their hands this summer, and one of their tasks is likely to be agreeing a deal for the Lilywhites’ No.1 goalkeeper.

Roberto De Zerbi already has a replacement for Guglielmo Vicario

Football Insider understands that Tottenham already want to replace Vicario, but given Kinsky’s latest exploits in between the sticks, Roberto De Zerbi might already have his next No.1.

To think that the Czech youth international was the same goalkeeper who conceded three calamitous goals against Atletico Madrid within 17 minutes before being replaced is crazy.

He made multiple saves to secure Spurs’ narrow win over Wolves, and on Monday, 11 May, he put up a Man-of-the-Match performance to ensure his team came away from the Leeds game with a point.

Supporters couldn’t believe their eyes when he stuck out a right hand to deny Sean Longstaff a dramatic winner in North London, and it is easily one of the saves of the season.

Antonin Kinsky can be Tottenham’s No.1

Kinksy’s total U-turn at Hotspur Way will give the manager a lot to think about should Spurs survive the drop this season, and thanks to the goalkeeper, that achievement is becoming increasingly likely.

Mick Brown told Football Insider in February that Tottenham are interested in Dean Henderson. But it might seem like a waste of money to go after Crystal Palace’s No.1 shot-stopper now.

The Lilywhites’ No.31 appears ready to take the next step forward in North London, and that should only trigger the alarm bells for Vicario, who could slip down the pecking order next season.

That is, if he stays at Hotspur Way this summer. Given the surrounding rumours, that appears rather unlikely.
