Guillem Balague has revealed that Barcelona will not attempt to lure Jurgen Klopp to Spain because he wants to remain with Liverpool.
The Daily Mirror claimed last week that Klopp had been identified as a possible replacement for Barca boss Luis Enrique in the summer.
However, Balague revealed on the Sky Sports website that the 49-year-old manager will remain at Anfield because the Spanish giants would not be able to convince Klopp to leave Liverpool.
“Barcelona have no interest in Klopp or Wenger,” Balague said.
“As far as Klopp is concerned, it is not because he isn’t good; he quite clearly is. But rather because there is no way they could ever coax him away from Liverpool.”
The Mirror claim that Klopp is on long shortlist of managers that also includes Merseyside rivals’ Everton’s manager Ronald Koeman.
It is believed that top-ranking officials are looking to replace current boss Enrique as Barca continue to struggle, with Real Madrid sitting at the top of La Liga with two games in hand.
Enrique’s difficult season with the current La Liga champions was compounded in the first leg of their round of 16 Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain, which they lost 4-0.
Klopp has watched from the Liverpool dugout in horror so far during 2017, as the Reds have secured just two wins since the turn of the year from 11 games.
However, the former Borussia Dortmund manager will be hoping the excellent 2-0 victory at home to Tottenham will prove as inspiration ahead of Monday night’s trip to Leicester City.
