Balague delivers ominous response when asked if Salah will quit Liverpool for Real Madrid
By Richard Parks
Mohamed Salah is unlikely to quit Liverpool for Real Madrid but a concerted bid to sign him could be underway by mid-summer, according to Guillem Balague.
The Sky Sports Spanish expert explained in a question-and-answer session on the Sky Sports website (Friday, 12.25pm) that the Egyptian goal machine is not currently a target for the Champions League holders.
But Balague explained that the big-spending Spanish giants will take steps to sign Salah if he guides Liverpool to the Champions League later this month and thrives at the subsequent World Cup.
“Obviously it’s not Real Madrid unsettling or trying to unsettle a player, it’s the media,” Balague told Sky Sports. “But it’s clear that if Salah does guide Liverpool to Champions League glory, and does well at the World Cup, then Real Madrid will make the steps to go for him.
“But at this moment in time, right now, he is not a target, and Jurgen Klopp and Salah have made it clear that staying at Anfield will be the best choice for him. Having said that, football change in an instant.”

Football Insider verdict:
It is certainly an ominous response from Balague about the possibility of Salah joining Real Madrid. While the club are not yet working on deal and there is no sense the 25-year-old goal king is pushing for such a move, it appears that is likely to change if he spearheads Liverpool to glory against Real in Kiev later this month and then follows up with an impressive World Cup for Egypt. Salah has looked out on his feet in his last three matches, with a relentless schedule finally catching up with him. But the switch can be flicked quite easily, especially as Liverpool must at least draw against Brighton on Sunday before they put their feet up for two weeks ahead of the Champions League final. Salah will not be short of motivation for either match, as he also aims to secure the Golden Boot ahead of Harry Kane. He will go down in Liverpool folklore if they win the Champions League, but one of the spin-offs is that the vultures could then start circling.
In other Liverpool news, the club are to table a mega goal machine offer, he will certainly be at Anfield in 18/19.
