Arsenal legend Charlier Nicholas has predicted a comfortable 2-0 win for the Gunners in his Sky Sports column, as long as they start with a few first teamers.
According to the former winger’s forecast, Eddie Nketiah will get his name on the scoresheet first against Ostersunds.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Nicholas expected even a much-changed Arsenal to be too strong for the Swedes. He said: “I like the look of the young lad Eddie Nketiah in the Carabao Cup but he hasn’t had a sniff in the Premier League because the first team go through hardships. It’s like the young lads get punished for the senior players’ failures.
“I’d expect to see Danny Welbeck through the middle, Ainsley Maitland-Niles in his proper position and then Alex Iwobi maybe the only one who will threaten to start on Sunday. The kids will try to put on a show and they should have enough to win comfortably.”
Danny Welbeck is looking like a certain starter for the Europa League tie after Arsene Wenger revealed he wanted the player to commit his future to the club with just under 18-months remaining on his current deal.
The Gunners already have a 3-0 advantage from the first leg after strikes from Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil, and a Sotirios Papagiannopoulos own goal.
Arsene Wenger’s side have an important match against Manchester City in the final of the League Cup on Sunday to contend with which means the Frenchman is unlikely to risk many of his first teamers ahead of the clash.
It is looking as though the Carabao Cup is the North Londoner’s most likely chance of silverware this season after not only falling way back in the title race but also in the Champions League places too.
