Gustavo Hamer to make return to Coventry City after confirmed news – Ex-Sky Blues coach
Gustavo Hamer could be set for a sensational return to Coventry City this summer after they secured promotion to the Premier League.
Frank Lampard led his side to a 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers last time out, confirming their promotion, although they remain in pursuit of the title.
As a result, plans are already being put in place to strengthen their squad when the transfer window opens as they prepare to make the step up.
Former Coventry assistant manager Mick Brown told Football Insider that Coventry could look to sign the best players in the Championship, with Hamer among them.
The 28-year-old left the CBS Arena in 2023 to join Sheffield United in the Premier League, and could now be given another shot as Coventry accelerate their transfer plans.

Could Coventry City sign Gustavo Hamer this summer?
Football Insider previously revealed that Hamer could push to leave Sheffield United if they fail to gain promotion to the Premier League this season.
The Netherlands international is keen to play at the highest level, and with Chris Wilder’s side currently in 12th place, he could be tempted to jump ship.

The opportunity to return to the Premier League with the club where he is still highly thought of could be a good option for both the player and the club.
“I’m very happy for Coventry, I was there with Phil Neal,” Brown told Football Insider.
“It’s good to see them promoted again after 25 years, but they will know now that they have to strengthen their squad to make sure they stay there.
“The issue you always face as a newly-promoted club is, you can’t necessarily shop in the same markets as other more established Premier League clubs.
“Coventry will be looking at the best players in the Championship who might be able to make that step up into the Premier League with them.
“Hamer is definitely among them and he’s shown that over a number of years.
“They still rate him very highly at Coventry and the fans loved him when he was there, so it would make sense for both parties if he was to make a return.
“I expect it’s something they will both be interested in doing if it’s possible, because he has got the quality at his best to make them into a better team.”
Which other clubs are in the race to sign Hamer?
Hamer’s potential availability is believed to have put a number of clubs on alert, both in the Premier League and in Europe, with clubs watching his situation closely.
Football Insider revealed ahead of the January transfer window that Leeds United are interested in signing Hamer and could look to lure him away from their rivals.

Daniel Farke’s side have been long-term admirers of the midfielder and have previously seen attempts to lure him away rebuffed by Sheffield United.
They are expected to be among the clubs racing to sign him should he become available this summer, although the strength of their interest is currently unclear.
In Europe, a number of clubs are also prepared to join the race, including PSV who could make a move to tempt him back to the Netherlands when the window opens.
