{{/primary_category}} Hard-as-nails 21-year-old centre-back next most likely Celtic signing - Football Whispers
Aberdeen centre-back Scott McKenna is the next most likely Celtic signing, according to transfer experts Football Whispers.
The 21-year-old has impressed for Derek McInnes’ side this season, and has recently become a regular in the Scotland squad.
The Dons rejected three bids for the player from Hull City in January, who then went on to be nominated for young player of the year.
Football Whispers is a transfer site that evaluates all information on potential deals involving major clubs.
It rates each deal with a score out of five – the higher the score the better the chance the deal is likely to happen.
McKenna is currently rated at 3/5 to make the move from Pittodrie to the East End of Glasgow.
Football Insider verdict
The only way that this deal could possibly happen in the near future would be if players left the Hoops in the summer transfer window. The Bhoys have plenty of centre-halves in their squad, and unless the likes of Marvin Compper and even Dedryck Boyata move on there is unlikely to be any movement in that area. There is no doubt that Scott McKenna has been very impressive for the Dons this season, but would he be good enough to make the leap from Pittodrie to the Scottish champions? Brendan Rodgers would need to strongly think about that. There is also the issue that the player is under contract until 2023, so the Dons would be looking for big money for the player. It is probably best to wait and see if any bids come in from other clubs for McKenna this summer, we will then have a better chance of finding out if the Hoops are interested in making a move for the centre-back.
