Harry Maguire: Campbell fears Man United 'dissension' after 'surprising' incident spotted
Kevin Campbell fears there may be “dissension” between Man United captain Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Everton skipper was “surprised” by Fernandes’ actions in the second half of United’s 4-0 defeat at Brighton on Saturday.
Fernandes, 27, captained the Red Devils against Graham Potter’s side with Maguire named on the bench by interim boss Ralf Rangnick.
Maguire replaced Juan Mata after 70 minutes with Brighton four goals to the good.
However, as highlighted by Gabby Agbonlahor on talkSPORT (7 May), the England international was not given the armband by Fernandes when he came on.
When asked by Football Insider how he would react to such a situation, Campbell said: “If I was on the bench and coming on, the players would always give me the armband.

“Maguire didn’t get a lot of minutes though so maybe it was something they worked out before the game.
“I would have expected Fernandes to give the armband to Maguire so I’m surprised he didn’t. Could there be dissension in the ranks? I hope that wasn’t the case.
“I hope it was more a case of they were in pain, 4-0 down and they were not thinking about who gets the armband.
“One thing is for sure. The issue isn’t Maguire. It doesn’t matter who you play. It could have been eight at the weekend. Brighton don’t score a lot of goals and they beat them 4-0. It says a lot.”
