Harry Redknapp makes astonishing claim ahead of Aston Villa v Birmingham clash
By Amir Mir
Harry Redknapp has astonishingly claimed that he knows less about Birmingham than any other team in the Championship ahead of the Aston Villa clash on Sunday.
Gianfranco Zola resigned from his post on Monday afternoon after his side suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Burton Albion on home soil.
Less than 24 hours later, the club confirmed that former Tottenham boss Redknapp will look to steer Birmingham to safety for the final three matches of the season.
His first task will be a tough trip to bitter rivals Villa, who could potentially deepen their rivals relegation woes.
Redknapp offered his thoughts on his new job as he admitted that he doesn’t know much about his new club.

“I haven’t seen Birmingham play,” Redknapp admitted to Bet Safe. “If you ask me in all honesty out of all the teams in these league, I probably know less about Birmingham than any of the other teams. I have not seen them this year.
“If you said Villa, yes I could tell you about Villa, Derby, Reading, whoever but I haven’t seen Birmingham”.
Prior to Zola’s arrival in December, Gary Rowett had the Blues sitting outside of the play-off places before he was sacked by the owners.
He has since taken over at Derby County where he picked up a late 2-1 win against the Blues earlier on in the month.
Redknapp’s side are one place and two points above the drop zone and will need to pick up points in their final three matches to secure safety.
They will take on a Villa side that have suffered back-to-back defeats but did record five wins on the bounce prior to their two losses in 48 hours.
