Harry Winks tipped to shine for Newcastle United after source's £20m update - Robinson
Paul Robinson has tipped Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks to rediscover his best form at a club like Newcastle United next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said the 26-year-old is “a top-quality midfielder” who simply needs a run of games.
Winks has struggled for game time at Spurs under Antonio Conte.
A recruitment source told Football Insider (30 May) the centre-midfielder has been informed that the club will listen to offers for him this summer.
Tottenham value their player at £20million.
According to the Daily Mail (26 May), Newcastle United and Southampton and interested in the 10-times England international.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Winks’ future, Robinson said: “Winks could play anywhere in the Premier League.
“He is a top-quality midfielder and is proven on the international stage.
“He has been frozen out over the last 18 months. His career has come to a bit of a standstill.
“There is no reason why he can’t go somewhere, reinvent himself and get back in the England squad. He is certainly good enough.
“When he has played for Spurs it is difficult because he knows he isn’t going to get a run of games. That is hard as a player. It has just not worked for him this season.
“I think he will join a mid-table Premier League team and play week in, week out. We will see the best of him when he gets a regular run of games.”
In other news, Newcastle United have been told to forget Dominic Calvert-Lewin and sign 25-year-old after source update.
