Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Leigh Griffiths and is convinced he will start for Celtic against Rangers after being frozen-out for much of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker hailed the 30-year-old’s passing ability and insisted that he is not only a “great goalscorer”.
Griffiths has been in fine goalscoring form of late, scoring two in two before his third consecutive start in Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Dundee United.
The Scotland international, starting his third consecutive game, assisted Odsonne Edouard for Celtic’s third in a comfortable 3-0 win.
His nine appearances across all competitions in 2020/21 have yielded five goals and one assist.
When asked by Football Insider if Griffiths was a definite starter for the trip to Ibrox on Saturday, Campbell said: “Without a shadow of a doubt he starts in the Old Firm.
“He is a great goalscorer who has an eye for a pass as well.
“He is a player that has to be accounted for at all times. If you let him go, he will sneak in and get a goal.
“It is a real big plus for Neil Lennon to have Leigh Griffiths back fit and firing, especially with a big game against Rangers this weekend.”
Speaking on Griffiths’ form last week, Neil Lennon said: “Yes, he has been a breath of fresh air in the last few weeks.
“So it is about keeping him fit and keeping him at it.”
