'He will be lining up for them next season' - Exclusive: Phillips makes huge Celtic transfer claim
Kevin Phillips has tipped Odsonne Edouard to snub a summer move, sign a new deal at Celtic and go all out for spearheading their 10-in-a-row tilt.
The 2000 European Golden Shoe winner, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, suggested that the 22-year-old enjoys playing under Neil Lennon and only a “stupid offer” would see him leave.
Neil Lennon revealed that talks had begun with the striker’s representatives over extending his contract, which is due to expire in June 2022.
Edouard was last night crowned the Hoops Player of the Year after he scored 27 goals and contributed 19 assists in his 45 appearances prior to the Scottish Premiership being curtailed.
Football Insider revealed in March that the former Paris Saint-Germain striker wanted a low release clause in his contract if he was to sign a new deal.
When asked by Football Insider if he believes the French forward will sign a new deal at Parkhead, Phillips said: “I think he will sign a new deal.

“I think he will want to be a part of the journey next season, going for 10-in-a-row. It would be a huge achievement and to be a part of that, you will always be remembered. You would be talked about as a legend.
“I certainly see that one happening.
“If somebody offered stupid money it could be different but that does not look like it is going to happen at the moment.
“The players enjoy playing for Neil Lennon so I see that one getting over the line.
“He will be lining up for them next season, going for that 10-in-a-row.
“An ideal scenario – sign, play next year, get the 10 and leave as a legend next summer.”
