'He'd be absolutely fantastic' - Exclusive: Paul Robinson blown away by reported Everton pursuit
Paul Robinson heaped praise on Everton for reportedly being in pursuit of Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-England No.1 praised the ambition of the Toffees’ pursuit as it shows the direction Carlo Ancelotti wants the club to go in.
It was recently reported that the Toffees manager was keen on sealing a loan move for Rodriguez with it believed that the Colombian is not in Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane’s long term plans.
Rodriguez has scored one goal in nine games this season for Madrid, while also registering an assist in his outings.
Robinson suggested that Rodriguez being linked showed how Ancelotti arriving has already put the club on another level in the transfer market.
“I think the type of players that are being linked to Everton have put them on another level already with Ancelotti there and able to attract these type of players,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“He’d (Rodriguez) be an absolutely fantastic addition to any football team, and it shows the direction Everton and Ancelotti want to go in.”
The Spanish giants previously loaned the 28-year-old out to Bayern Munich where he managed to score 15 goals in 67 appearances.
Rodriguez has played for a number of high-profile clubs in his career so far, as aside from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, he has also featured for FC Porto as well as AS Monaco.
The attacker is contracted to stay with Real Madrid until 2021 after signing a contract extension in July 2017.
