'He'd Be Smart Signing' - Exclusive: Campbell wowed by West Ham reported striker swoop

AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko would be a “smart signing” for West Ham on a short-term deal, according to Kevin Campbell.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker heaped praise on the 34-year-old who has “proven that he can score goals in the Premier League”.

According to talkSPORT, the former Manchester City man is of interest to the Irons and Everton ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Hammers are in the market for a centre-forward after Sebastien Haller departed for Ajax in a £20million deal earlier this month.

Dzeko has scored seven goals in 15 matches for Roma this season but has dropped out of the side recently following a fall out with manager Paulo Fonseca.

When asked by Football Insider if the Bosnia striker would be a welcome addition at the London Stadium, Campbell said: “Dzeko is someone who can add to that West Ham team.

“He has proven that he can score goals in the Premier League, he is strong, big, can hold the ball up and carries an aerial threat.

“I think he would be a smart signing in the short-term.”

Dzeko won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup while at the Etihad, his 189 appearances across all competitions yielded 72 goals and 39 assists.

He joined Roma on loan in August 2015 before making the move permanent in a £9.9million transfer 12 months later.
