Hendrie: This is what 'star man' Saiz needs to improve at Leeds
By Laura O’Leary
Former Leeds United player John Hendrie identified Samuel Saiz as the key man for when the Whites play Middlesbrough but pointed out one flaw in the attacker’s game.
The 54-year-old was previewing the game against Middlesbrough for the Leeds’ official website, and revealed that although Saiz is the star man at the club, he could be better.
He said the following regarding the striker: “He’s a terrific little player and a really good find.
“He’s been excellent, my only criticism could be that he sometimes tries the fancy finish instead of being clinical, but he has been the star man for me.”
The Spanish striker joined Leeds United in July 2017, making the move from La Liga 2’s SD Huesca.
So far this season, the 26-year-old has scored eight goals in 16 appearances across all competitions and has even grabbed three assists.
Despite Saiz’s impressive form, Leeds are 10th in the Championship with 23 points having only won two of their last nine games.
The turnaround in form has been quite drastic for the Whites as they originally did not suffer defeat in any of their opening seven league games of the season.
Leeds will be hoping to end their run of bad form against Middlesbrough when they meet on November 19 at Elland Road.
However, Middlesbrough go into this game having won their last three league games, scoring six goals in the process.
Middlesbrough’s form has seen them move into fifth place in the Championship, with three more points than the Whites ahead of their meeting.
