He's done brilliantly - Exclusive: Bent reacts to reported £30m Everton raid on PL giants
Darren Bent has claimed that “brilliant” Jesse Lingard could become an “integral” player for Everton if they can sign him this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham Hotspur striker suggested that the 27-year-old could reignite his stalling career with a switch to Goodison Park.
A recent report from the Metro linked the Toffees with a potential raid for the midfielder, as well as stating that Manchester United value him at around £30 million.
And Bent believes that a move could prove to be beneficial for all parties.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “I don’t think it’s too late for Jesse, he’s a good player.
“I think he did so much in such a compact space of time – he did brilliantly for England, brilliantly for United in the space of about three years – that he set his standards really, really high. Scoring in cup finals, helping England to get to a World Cup semi-final – people then expect that every single week.

“Sometimes you get to a point where you can become stale at a football club, maybe the fans don’t believe in you like they used to, going to get a fresh start might help.
“Going to a top club like Everton, with a great manager there, that might just help him ignite it. He could be an integral part of what Ancelotti is building.”
Lingard has struggled for form this season, and has registered just two goals and two assist in 35 appearances for United.
None of those contributions have come in the Premier League, and he has not started a league match since New Year’s Day.
