Darren Bent believes “electric” Demarai Gray could make a big impact at Tottenham if he were to make the move from Leicester City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Spurs striker also warned how Ryan Sessegnon has moved to north London and struggled.
Football Insider revealed last week that Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho had held personal preliminary talks with Gray over a potential move to Spurs.
This site then revealed that Leicester had placed a £20m price tag on the 24-year-old who has entered the final year of his contract at the King Power stadium.
The winger started just three Premier League games for Leicester last season as he featured in 29 games in all competitions.
Asked by Football Insider whether Mourinho can unlock something previously unseen in Gray, Bent said: “I’m a big fan of Demarai Gray, the only thing is his consistency. He’s never really been consistent for a large period of time.
“He’s certainly got something, you can see that when he gets the ball, he can make things happen and when he comes off the bench he’s always quite electric.
“At times with Leicester having Marc Albrighton and Harvey Barnes it’s quite difficult for him to nail down a spot.
“I like him but on that right hand side, where is he going to play? We’ve not really seen (Ryan) Sessegnon play, Lucas Moura plays there and they’ve still got (Steven) Bergwijn.
“Listen, if they feel like he’s the one that they quite like and excited about and they can get him then I’m all for it.”
In other Tottenham Hotspur news, Dele has been told to sort himself out after a major development.
